Who Works at Amber Arts?

Ayesha Malik – Gallery & Framing Manager:

Ayesha Malik has a background in Fine Art, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Sculpture from Canterbury in 2001. Her interest in photography originated from the documentation of her work, and subsequently this has become her main practice. Working now as a freelance photographer, Ayesha is involved in both commercial and fine art projects.

Her early development in framing was self-taught, using traditional and mainly hand crafted techniques. Amber Arts has allowed her to build on this experience.

Jill Hodge - Director:

Jill Hodge is an established Fine Art Printmaker with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Printmaking. Jill returned in 2007 to Edinburgh from the United Arab Emirates where she had lived for the last 5 years. She was one of the founding members to set up the first Fine Art school in the Gulf Peninsula, the College of Fine Arts and Design, University of Sharjah. Jill was Head of the Printmaking Department at the College where she was responsible for the design, development and implementation of a state of the art printmaking workshop.

Jill took over Amber Arts in February 2008, and having installed a print workshop in the basement is now able to do her own work (when she can!) and teach printmaking classes.
