New Works - Patrizio Belcampo

While Belcampo's work contains references to literature, material culture and the decorative arts, his objective in printmaking is not the illustration of ideas borrowed from those disciplines, but the realisation of well-resolved images through close engagement with technique.

His interest in flatness and palette reduction came into focus during a couple of years spent investigating the possibilities of silhouette in silkscreen printing via the paper stencil. More recently he has approached the medium of stone lithography with a view to exploring new surface qualities in his work.

This exhibition presents a series of lithographs inspired by Christian symbolism as well as a preview of his current project, an alphabet of birds.
