PATRIZIO BELCAMPO - New Works
13th May - 15th July 2010
www.patriziobelcampo.com
Following on from last years solo show at Amber Arts, this is a chance to see new works by one of our best selling artists -Patrizio Belcampo, a refreshing artist and printmaker who uses the silhouette to distort symbols and traditions with an elegance and style of his own.
'Whether it receives its impulse from a text, an image or an artistic tradition, Patrizio Belcampo’s work reveals an obstinate curiosity in exploring the relationships between living things and the material world around them. It is a free and intimate dialogue with culture, conducted with the lively inaccuracy of approach favored by the Middle Ages. It is by adulteration, as it were, that old tales evolve into new ones.'
Arianna Ancarani (Italian poet)
His latest work comprises of an intriguing and unique series of ‘Crash’ prints. These screen prints are made from intricate hand cut stencils depicting an intelligent concoction of imagery based on influential British figures from the Victorian era. Accompanying this is another body of work, operating on a more humorous level that derives from an Edinburgh Council initiative to clean up our streets.
Please keep an eye on the gallery page for more information.
