A colourful collection of contemporary land and seascapes by:
Hazel Campell (www.hazelcampbell.co.uk)
Camilla Watson (www.camillawatson.co.uk)
Claudia Massie (www.claudiamassie.com)
Winifred Hodge (www.winifredhodge.co.uk)
Fiona Corrance
Jill Hodge (www.jillhodge.co.uk)
This varied and interesting show at Amber Arts incorporates distinctive styles of 6 woman artists capturing and reflecting the seasonal changes in 'Diverse Landscapes'.
Hazel Campbell is renowned for her bold colourful paintings with characteristic Galloway cottages.
Camilla Watson uses mixed-media elements in her landscape paintings, including text and map imagery, to tell the story of the land.
These contrast with the dramatic, strong tonal work in oils from Claudia Massie and her more recent subtle, moody oils on paper.
Atmospheric work in mixed media by Winifred Hodge truly captures the ambiance of the dales and the seas around the Hebridean isles.
Fiona Corrance’s energetic use of paint depicts abstract northern landscapes, which contrast with Jill Hodge's contemplative colourful new monoprints and complete this exhibition.
FUTURE EXHIBITION
TwelvebyTwelve
Antonia Gallacher - Adam Wallace - Elaine Russell - Elise Chisholm - Hazel Vellacott - Jemma Derbyshire - Thomas Chisholm
12th – 24th December
Twelvebytwelve brings together the work of seven Contemporary Scottish Painters, united through the 12"x12" format.
The exhibition has been curated by Jemma Derbyshire, a landscape painter concerned with the intense relationships of colour and light in the Scottish landscape.
The other artists involved offer very different approaches to the medium, but bring cohesion through their shared format. The collection of paintings spans many ideas; from pieces inspired by ordinary everyday objects to mark making and layers exploring memories, emotion and significance.
