Celebrating Arthur’s Seat - Cat Outram
8th September - 3rd November 2011
A series of etchings that explore the unique profile of Arthur’s Seat
‘I grew up on the edge of the Queen's Park. Arthur's Seat, the highest point in Edinburgh, was the backdrop to everywhere I went. Now that I've moved to another part of the city I still use it as a point of reference to navigate myself around.
To return after I have been away I know, when I see that extraordinarily unique profile, that I am almost home. Last year I went for a walk round the park on one of those beautiful sunny days in autumn, and was reminded of how much I love this space. I decided to start a new series of images celebrating this hill in the city; the sudden views one gets between buildings, the way it rises up in the background and the long views from a distance. These, added to other images I have done over the years are the basis of this exhibition at Amber Arts.’
